RIDING LESSONS FAQs

What should my child wear for a riding lesson?
Warm, comfortable clothing is recommended.
Jodhpurs are practical and suitable for all weathers.
A t-shirt and light coat or fleece.
Waterproofs will be necessary in wet weather and gloves in cold weather.
Boots can be wellies, so long as they have a heel to fit securely on the stirrups. Trainers are not suitable.
A body protector is also advised for the regular rider.
We often have second-hand riding clothes and shoes in our office to buy. We also sell Pony Club t-shirts and hoodies.
No child can ride without a riding hat and we hire hats for your child’s use during their lesson, or they can wear their own. We also provide road safety high-vis vests for our children going on the roads at no extra charge.

Can I watch my child’s lesson?
In the spring and summer, our lessons are held in a nearby field which we walk the ponies out to, but you are welcome to watch your child mount their pony and warm-up in our main field from the yard.

In the winter months, we ride in our sand school and parents can view the lessons from the yard or from the comfort of the warm office. We are also happy for you to take photos of your child on their pony after the lesson.

Do you run the lessons in bad weather?
We ride in all weathers, so please ensure your child is appropriately dressed and has applied suncream if the sun is out.

How much are lessons?
All lessons are £14.50 per half hour. Our events are individually priced. Private lessons may be available on agreement.

How can I pay for my child’s lessons?
We accept payment by cash or cheque. Unfortunately we cannot take card payments. Payment should be made before your lesson
